What is the
Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP)?
The Statewide Transportation
Improvement Program (STIP) is a staged, multi year,
statewide, intermodal program of transportation
projects, funded by the Federal Highway Administration or Federal
Transit Administration, which are consistent with the Statewide Long
Range Transportation Plan and its planning processes and the
Chittenden County Metropolitan Planning Organization’s
Transportation Improvement Program and processes.

The STIP must
cover a period of not less than 3 years.

The STIP must
be fiscally constrained by year and include financial information to
demonstrate which projects and the phases that are to be implemented
using current revenues

The STIP
contains capital and non-capital projects.
