Occupational Safety
Our goals for the Vermont Agency of Transportation are to promote the safety of our staff by achieving a respectful workplace, and reducing employee injuries and accidents.
We focus on four distinct goals: Safety, Excellence, Planning, and Preservation.
Safety: Occupational Safety and Health is the critical component in achieving a respectful workplace. This helps to reduce employee injuries, accidents and hazardous material incidents. We do this by enhancing employees' involvement with Safety.
Excellence: Cultivate and continually pursue excellence in performance, accountability and service by identifying and implementing a comprehensive safety plan, and by improving the level of service provided to our employees.
Planning: Review data for frequency and severity of incidents, then apply a risk reduction strategy. We strive to comply with federal and state regulations and requirements.
Preservation: Protect the state's investment in its transportation system. One facet of this is a "Best Management Practices" document we generate annually.
