Mission Statement: The mission of the Database and Systems Administration group is to provide accurate information to our constituents whenever and wherever they need it.

Responsibility

We advise, design, secure and deliver information using the current database technology. We support and maintain over 25 databases. We provide information for over 400 mainframe users, 100 Oracle users, 300 SQL Server users and countless web constituents. We secure VTRANS information; providing data to only those with the appropriate privileges.

Information Systems Supported

We collaborate closely with programming staff to support these and other Programming and Information Systems:        

• Several mainframe and Windows ™ databases and their constituent languages

• Automation tools designed to improve productivity

• State-of-the-art mainframe operating systems and user support tools

• Data mining warehouses for construction and for Motor Vehicle Support

• Careful user and information security planning and implementation

• Web Server security and administration

Documentation and Auditing

We are currently involved in several projects to document VTRANS' systems and to audit data usage.
