Construction Season Is Here

With a relatively mild winter and much work to do post-Irene, VTrans crews and contractors will be having a very busy summer and starting it a little earlier this year. Please take extra care when driving in work zones.

See what VTrans workers have to say about what it's like to be on their side of the cones. Hear from a mom about how it feels to watch cars go by at 70MPH while you're trying to work. Or learn from a 39-year veteran of road construction how to make it safer for everyone.

Where is the Work Happening?

There are projects happening all over the state—bridges are being built, culverts replaced and more than 360 miles of state and interstate highway will be paved or repaired.

We have produced a map showing all of the planned projects.

When will my road be paved?

VTrans is working hard to improve our whole road network and we are making progress. This year, we have increased our investment in "leveling", which means that crews will be out making repairs to trouble spots and smoothing sections to extend the life of existing pavement. You can see which roads are scheduled in the leveling plan.

If the road you're wondering about isn't in the leveling plan, it may be in the regular paving plan for this summer.

You can also look at a map showing all of the planned state paving work for this summer.

Where Can I get Updates on Construction Activity?

If you have a question about a project in your region, you can contact the regional construction engineer.

Beginning April 23, we will give weekly updates every Monday on construction activity via the "On the Road" radio broadcast on stations throughout Vermont.

You can also get the latest on closures and conditions via Twitter

You can find regular project news updates on our Facebook page too.

And check back here regularly for additional information as we develop this page.
