Thus far, there has been very positive feedback from all those who participated in this years outreach program. Particularly high marks came from the archaeology campers, and their parents. Below are some of their comments.
Camper Aaron M. - "What I like about being here is that it's fun. You get to dig in the dirt and find all this stuff like pottery and you get to get dirty and that's fun too. And then you get to meet all the nice archaeologists working here. Just think - you'll be driving your car in Colchester on the [new] highway and you'll be like - hey, I was here. I was digging here, I mean way down there. That's where I was.' It will be fun to think back about what was there, what's there now and how we found things there." Camper Brandon L. - " You find cool things like bones. You never know what you're going to find. You could find a skeleton..., and you can get out in the wildlife -it surrounds you; and you get to feel the cool wind and everything." Letter from a parent - To Whom It May Concern: My grandson attended an archaeology camp in June 2001 at a dig on Prim Road in Colchester. Liz Subin was the director of this camp. It was one of the most meaningful, interesting, and worthwhile adventures he ever had. He was so excited to go each day and was so disappointed when the week ended. The children learned so much in one week and the arts & crafts they did were also unique. We are hoping that Liz Subin or the University of Vermont will consider making this a yearly adventure and wonderful experience for kids. Sincerely, Jackie M.
