ARRA Stimulus Applications

Track 1a - Vermonter/NECR Route Improvements - (200KB pdf file) - The purpose of the Vermonter/NECR Rail Improvements project is to improve the conditions of the track, roadbed and bridges along the current route of the Amtrak Vermonter Service in Vermont and New Hampshire resulting in an increase track speed for a distance of 45 miles to 79 MPH and the remaining 145 miles from 55 MPH to 59 MPH. These improvements will reduce the operating schedule by up to 27 minutes and guarantees a more consistent, year round OTP by this train.

Track 2 - Ethan Allen Express Improvements and Extension - (266KB pdf file) - This HSIPR corridor program will serve to support intercity passenger rail service through the most populous area of the State of Vermont and further connect vital economic regions of the State to each other and the State of New York. Proposed improvements will result in improved trip times and extension of the existing service north to Burlington, Vermont’s largest city and most populace county.

Track 3 - NY – VT Bi-State Intercity Passenger Rail Planning Project - (371KB pdf file) - The planning study involves developing a corridor service plan for an intercity passenger route that would serve the communities between Albany, NY and Rutland, VT including Mechanicville, NY; Bennington, Manchester and Rutland, VT. Also served would be Castleton, VT, Fort Edward, Saratoga Springs and Schenectady, NY. The plan would look at options for equipment, frequency and schedules to assure the most practical and cost effective service for both states.
