Resurface I-89 NB & SB, beginning in Waterbury at MM 63.2 and ending in Richmond at MM 79.0.

Project Location: 

Beginning in the Town of Waterbury at mile marker 63.200, just south of the Exit 10 interchange and extending northerly along Interstate Route 89 (northbound) for a distance of approximately 15.800 miles to mile marker 79.000 in the Town of Richmond, just north of the Exit 11 interchange.

Also, beginning in the Town of Waterbury at mile marker 63.200, just south of the Exit 10 interchange and extending northerly along Interstate Route 89 (southbound) for a distance of 15.800 miles to mile marker 79.000 in the Town of Richmond, just north near the Exit 11 interchange.   

Project Description: 

This project is considered a “preventative maintenance” activity and will be constructed in an effort to keep the condition of I-89 in generally good shape. Work will include fine milling to a depth of 3/4", surface preparation, then paving with a 3/4” layer of bonded wearing course. Additionally, some guardrail work will be performed to repair and replace damaged guardrail components and to bring complete guardrail runs into compliance with the current standards.  Finally, shoulder berms that have built up will be removed to facilitate better drainage from the road surface.

Project Timeline:


Construction will begin in the spring months of 2019 and will conclude in summer of 2020.
