ER STP 0138(11)

SLOPE REMEDIATION AND ASSOCIATED ROADWAY REPAIR ON VT140 IN WALLINGFORD, APPROX. 3.18 MILES EAST OF THE US7 INTERSECTION. DDIR #NEW-DDIR-023.

Wallingford ER STP 0138(11) is a Tropical Storm Irene Recovery Project which caused heavy erosion and destabilization of VT Route 140 in this location. During the recovery period, roadways were constructed into working order, yet some areas were not fully stabilized requiring more detailed geotechnical review and design to insure future stability.

This project consists of installing a wire mesh on the eroded embankment along the North side of VT Route 140 and installing soil nails to secure this mesh on to the embankment to prevent future erosion. This project will also consist of full-depth reconstruction of approximately 500 feet of roadway, and stream bank stabilization on the South side of VT Route 140.

Due to site constraints, there is limited space complete the necessary construction with all equipment that is required; therefore VT Route 140 will be closed for approximately 28 days. Traffic will be detoured utilizing VT Route 103 and US Route 7.
